    Veteran Artillery Operator

Jim Davis was a veteran tracked vehicle driver and artillery gunner.  He had 10 years of experience with various Mechs throughout his Federated Suns military career before joining Strider’s Strikers.  Jim was born in 2988, ranking him as the oldest member of the Strikers.  Despite his age, Jim remained graceful in his piloting and an excellent shot with all kinds of long range weapons throughout his career.  He finished his service in the Federated Suns military in 3054, and decided to join the Strikers to continue his regular military lifestyle.
Jim was known for being extremely stubborn.  He was also known for openly
second-guessing his commanding officers.  Though some found his
    questioning authority quite
annoying, his experience and his own opinions
typically proved worthy to his commanders while in the field of battle.  Those
who barely knew him often identified him with the darker personage of his
brother, Bill Davis, of the Mystic Fleet Pirates.  In reality, Jim was a kind-hearted
soldier doing the only thing he knew.
Jim was killed in 3068 during a Blakist attack on the command barracks of
Strider’s Strikers headquarters.  He was shot to death by Purifier battle-armored
soldiers.  His death was eye-witnessed by fellow command company member,
Andrew Allen, who also died during the same attack later that night.  Evidence
seems to indicate that Jim’s death was avenged by pilot Tony Hopkins.
Hopkins killed several enemy troops before his own Mech was destroyed.
Jim was seen as a grandfather figure by many of the younger members of the
unit.  While his gunnery skills were some of the best within the Inner Sphere
half of the Strikers, Jim never boasted about his abilities.  Many younger pilots
looked up to him, hoping to learn some secrets of the trade that might improve
    their own accuracy.
