Scumdog
A true scum dog in every sense of the word, Mechwarrior Dirk was crude and
rude for as long as his starmates could remember. Dirk’s over-confidence in
everything he did made him somewhat of an unbearable braggart. Though he
commonly found coupling partners with great ease, many Clan warriors found
him disgusting. Dirk acted as if he had a lot of charisma, though he was
relatively lacking in the skill. It was most likely that he found his coupling
partners only by winning bets against them. Other Steel Vipers usually tried to
ignore Dirk, but this task was sometimes unachievable due to Dirk’s persistent
nature. Most of his starmates couldn’t wait for the day that Dirk was taught the
lesson that he so dearly needed to learn. They had all debated teaching him
that lesson themselves, but decided they didn’t want to get their hands dirty
with Dirk’s blood.
Dirk finally learned his lesson in 3068, but it was too late for him to realize his
mistake by the time his true test had come. The challenge came from within his
new unit’s ranks, as one of the Strider’s Strikers infantry was killed and the
man’s partner was still deep in grief and rage over her loss. Dirk dug his own
grave while mouthing off to the infantryman’s coupling partner, a Nova Cat
Elemental named Shiho. He ended up on the losing end of a batchall and was
forced to defend himself in unarmed combat. The veteran Elemental broke both
of his arms and both of his ankles, then smashed his face several times with
only her fists before throwing him out of the Circle of Equals and into a brick
wall.
Dirk was given immediate medical attention when the bout had ended, but he
suffered a brain aneurysm and was unable to recover after surgery. His death
in the Strikers’ Inner Sphere hospital ward came as a shock to his starmates.
Since Dirk’s death, the Elemental has been promoted to a Point Commander.
Shiho has also been assigned to deep space operations, a high honor in that
the training is specifically designed for protecting the newly acquired lostech
Arbiter Warship.
