    Word of Blake Traitor

One of the thousands of original World of Blake separatists, Adept Melissa Fox
always felt that Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht had ignored Jerome Blake’s
vision.  Melissa was thrilled when the Word of Blake became their own separate
power.  She worked hard to see others like herself freed from Focht’s version of
    Comstar.
After making a name for herself with her superb scouting tactics, Melissa was
promised a new lance under her command in an area where she could make a
difference in the Inner Sphere.  On order from Precentor Demona Aziz, Fox
traveled to Gibson where she would meet the Knights of the Inner Sphere in a
joint exercise between elite Marik and Word of Blake pilots.  It was during this
time that she encountered Sir Owen Hardcastle, an assault BattleMech pilot
with whom she had a brief romance.
It was during her months on Gibson that Melissa realized what political move
Precentor Aziz was plotting.  The Precentor had been planning to frame the
Knights of the Inner Sphere, forever shaming their honorable image among the
great Houses of the Inner Sphere.  Melissa warned Sir Owen, and he took the
blame for the single act of dishonor.
The other Knights never learned of the Toyama conspiracy, and so found Sir
Owen Hardcastle guilty.  After Owens’ discharge from the Knights, Melissa was
commissioned to play a new role in dishonoring the Knights since the last had
failed.  Though unwilling to fight the great House Marik which had sheltered the
Word of Blake, Fox was forced to join a special Toyama unit called the
    "Denouncement" or face execution.
The Denouncement group possessed various secret Comstar assets stolen
when Word of Blake was formed.  With these special technologies and this
knowledge, the Toyama faction initially hoped to overthrow Precentor Blane
using any means possible.  Knowing immediate death would follow any refusal
on her part, Melissa played her role in the Denouncement.
She served in a special lance of the subgroup classified as the "Purifiers".  The
group was simply a C3i networked lance, operating experimentally to evaluate
the performance of the sophisticated targeting system, as well as two of the
lance’s premium Mechs:  the 100-ton Vanquisher and the 90-ton Viking.
Melissa was captured while on a mission against the Strikers.  Her lance had
been chasing the team across space and ambushed them while on a supply run.
Her story was revealed finally, after the "Purifiers" attempted to destroy a
Strider’s Strikers landing party during the Strikers’ journey to Nova Cat space.
Melissa’s knowledge was extremely important news to the Strikers unit.  The
commanders discovered the depth of the Blakist group’s obsession with the
mercenary team for the first time.  Because of his actions and noble move to
protect the Knights, Sir Owen Hardcastle was promoted to lance commander.
He and Melissa became a couple again after she joined the unit as a scout pilot.
With her defection, she brought along her 25-ton Nexus Mech.
Melissa was killed with the majority of her company when Blakists firebombed a
Strikers’ command barracks in 3068.  She was off-duty during the attack and
practicing sports at the time of the attack.  Sir Owen Hardcastle has been hit
hard by her death.  The two were engaged to be married shortly before the
    attack.
