    Wealthy Adventurer

George Hamill was once a famed film director on his home planet of Miranda.
After a colorful career producing fresh new film ideas, he began to lose his
creative ability.  His ratings as a director began to collapse and George finally
decided to give up his dream and pursue one of his many other interests.
Ever since he had become successful as a filmmaker, George had been
considered by most to be a renaissance man.  He was not only talented in
script-writing and directing, but George had a wide variety of other skills and
talents.  An accomplished poet in his free time, George had a made a name for
himself throughout the Labrea system.  He was also a capable painter, able to
take down most anyone’s appearance using watercolors.  George was able to
take advantage of his rare ability, having been born with a photographic
    memory.
His most famous interest, which often caught public attention, was his interest
in BattleMech engineering and design.  It was not known to many, but George
had long ago purchased a Mech when he had reached stardom with his first
science fiction movie, Flak Game.  The 95-ton Cerberus assault Mech, George’s
favorite design, was occasionally piloted by the young man when he was taking
a break from film-making.  Though he was far from what most consider a good
pilot, George’s ego convinced him he was just as capable as any other
    Mechwarrior.
After seeing a want ad on the local newsvid, George volunteered his services to
the Strider’s Strikers team.  The unit was apparently suffering from
over-deployment and had advertised for a new assault lance.  By having his
own Mech, George was able to get onto the team, despite his poor gunnery
    skills.
George slowly developed some strategic skills as a Mechwarrior.  His piloting
and gunnery abilities were poor, but he continued to believe he was more than
able to handle himself and his Mech.  His overconfidence and inflated ego were
unfortunate qualities that led to his demise in 3068.
While holding their defensive position after suffering damage from a Blakist
ambush, George and his lancemates were outnumbered and out-gunned.  Lance
leader Hayato Rihaku decided to divide the lance into two teams in order to
combat enemy fire that was coming from the north and south.  Underestimating
the enemy’s abilities, George moved his Cerberus too far from his partnered
pilot, Luke-Jean Dracip.  When Luke-Jean’s Mech became entangled with two
other Mechs in physical combat, George tried to help his lancemate.  However it
was too late.  Luke-Jean was unable to reply to any transmissions.
Before long, George’s Mech suffered critical hits to it hip joints and fell to the
ground.  George was then taken captive by the Blakist extremists.  He was
questioned for detailed information regarding the Strikers’ newly acquired
Arbiter Warship.  Because he knew nothing of the Warship and little about his
new unit, he was tortured to give more information.  After failing several times,
his interrogator went to further extremes that resulted in George’s death.
The video recording of his death was sent to the team’s new commanders, Duo
Maxwell and Sasha Breen.  Upon learning of George’s death, both commanders
contemplated a counterstrike against the Blakists.  However because the unit
had already lost so much, the decision was delayed seemingly indefinitely.
