Burnout
Shade Stipes is notorious for his poor enthusiasm and unaggressive nature.
The product of 15 years of military service, Shade has barely survived more
battles than most soldiers see in a career. As a tank commander in the Chaos
March, Shade has repeatedly been the sole survivor of not only his tank, but
sometimes of entire skirmish battles. His nerves dead after years of such
anguish, Shade now possesses a personality so uncommon it worries his
commanders. His years of experience provide him with a commanding position
for his vehicle assignment, giving him great leverage and freedom as a leader.
However this is a situation all too familiar for Shade. For years and years as a
commander, he has watched his crews die. By far the worst part for Shade, no
matter what his decision in battle, his actions always put his crew members in
jeopardy. Shade now commands the all powerful Alacorn tank, with its
tremendously powerful armament of three Gauss rifles. Though most
commanders would be excited about such an assignment, Shade only continues
to appear dead inside.
Shade’s performance in battle is well known. He is a master strategist but lacks
any confidence because of his past experiences. Shade organized the
withdrawal of several lances of Inner Sphere armory in the Blakists’ 3068 attack
on the Strikers’ H.Q. He was commended for his successful rapid deployment
and has been encouraged to test himself as a Mechwarrior. Shade seems
uninterested, but with some psychological help and the right environment, he
may yet find some rest.
