Infantry Commander
illiam Pay was the popular commander of Strider’s Strikers’ original veteran
platoon. Though his unit was no longer the highest paid among the Strikers
infantry at the time of its destruction, William and his men had enjoyed many
benefits as senior members of the team. The group was widely known as the
bravest of the Strikers’ infantry, though its unclear if this was true or not.
Whatever the case, the "Pay’s Due" platoon was made up of aggressive and
experienced soldiers. They had performed more than a dozen specialized
combat campaigns and taken part in six of the Strikers’ raids against Blakist
outposts.
William Pay and much of his "Pay’s Due" platoon met their untimely fate at the
hands of the Ghost Bears in 3067. The Ghost Bears challenged the Nova Cats
and Steel Vipers for the lostech Arbiter class Warship, Reckoning. Star
Commodore Tilat Leroux bid away some of his Dropships with the hopes of
reducing the Strikers’ unit’s losses. However many of the Dropships were still
required for the confrontation.
During the attack, Dropship Captain Bill Kosby’s Overlord C, the Mine or Yours,
was assaulted by the Ghost Bears. The Dropship had successfully intercepted
a team of Ghost Bear infantry and Elementals, who’d been hopeful to reach the
Arbiter intact. However with their chance missed and options few, the Ghost
Bear units attached and deployed into Overlord C Dropship. The resulting
battle within the Mine or Yours had only a handful of eyewitnesses. When the
space battle between the Clans concluded, the "Pay’s Due" platoon had taken
87 percent casualties.
