Thunderdome Minions Commander
Luolay Kamat has been a member of the Thunderdome Minions since the
group’s inception in 3042. She was only 16 at the time the unit was formed, and
therefore her upbringing as a young adult was based almost entirely on her
teammates. Luolay was one of the original commander’s finest followers. She
had already learned guerrilla warfare from her childhood experiences in the
Oberon Confederation. Her parents had been smugglers and they’d taken her
along nearly everywhere they went due to the nature of the job. By the time she
was 18, she’d witnessed more violence than many soldiers twice her age had.
The effects were long term and Luolay never fully recovered from much of the
early trauma. Instead she chose to keep her emotions hidden, only allowing
them to be fully shown in the heat of Mech combat.
Luolay’s education was a relatively poor one. While the Thunderdome Minions
did have teachers assigned to their youngest members, most of the group’s
misfit followers avoided regular classes. They replaced this time with hours in
Mech simulators and tactics seminars meant for older members. During these
seminars, young Luolay learned most of what she needed during to eventually
become the commander of the unit.
Luolay was elected leader after original commander Scottie "Crusher" Porkins
died in a duel with a rival pirate group. She was voted in due to her extreme
popularity and her well-known vicious streak – a characteristic most associated
with leadership in the Minions group.
Luolay soon took over the task of monitoring the lostech Arbiter-class Warship,
which she soon christened Crusher, after the original commander’s nickname.
She set up a better organized system than her predecessor had and was soon
trying to recruit new staff in an attempt to understand the ancient ship’s
remaining working systems.
Luolay also bolstered the defenses of the aging giant. She arranged a large
defensive task force composed of the Minions’ heaviest assault Mechs. The
group boasted some amazing tech, including Clan Mechs salvaged during raids
on worlds controlled by the Lyran Commonwealth and Jade Falcons.
Luolay was in the Arbiter Warship’s hold when the Strider’s Strikers
mercenaries attacked. She led the initial defense against the Strikers’ first
attack lance. She and her team lost control of the ship after the hard-fought
battle, and were then turned in to the nearest authorities. Due to Luolay’s
cunning, the pirate band escaped shortly thereafter. Their current whereabouts
are unknown. There is no doubt they will not be doing the Strikers unit any
favors, and it is very possible they could join with the Word of Blake in a new
attack on the team of mercenaries.
