    Political Player

Sir Alfred Trebuchet has been involved in the politics of his home nation since
he was a young man.  Claiming to be the illegitimate son of a famous Cardinal,
Alfred made a name for himself in his teenage years.  Using his partial celebrity
status to some success, Alfred was able to volunteer for numerous minor
government positions.  He was also accepted on more than one occasion as an
esteemed guest of honor in the important social gatherings of his home planet.
Finding his way into interstellar politics, Alfred soon found himself a supporter
of Thomas Marik and all that the Free Worlds League leader represented.
Alfred was invited to the commencement exercises of the Knights of the Inner
Sphere and even given an honorary position on the team.  Much to his family
and friends’ surprise, Alfred actively entered the unit as a Mechwarrior.
While in service of the Knights, Alfred’s political connections kept him from any
physical harm’s way on several occasions.  However in a practice exercise
during the end of Alfred’s first year in the unit, he was forced to defend himself
against a superior officer in a fistfight.  Losing his image and branded as a
coward by his own lancemates, Alfred was reassigned to a company under the
command of Alec de Payens.  Soon thereafter, Alfred was able to regain his
reputation and political standing.  He vowed to take his role more seriously and
became less involved with the social side of his job.
When his commander’s family was killed by Word of Blake forces, Alfred felt a
special responsibility to see his friend through the crisis.  When Alec de Payens
made the decision to leave the Knights of the Inner Sphere, Alfred was torn
between keeping up appearances and helping his friend.  After weeks of
thinking, Alfred tried to balance his lifestyle between the two and join his
friend’s new unit as its political liaison.
Alfred’s skills are surprisingly good for his lack of experience.  Unlike his Mech
piloting ability, his bravery is never in question.  Alfred continues to have a
strong relationship with his teammates and commander.
